Downtown Houston has more than 100,000 parking spaces, which is more than 3 parking spaces for each resident. The binary of commercial building / parking space in Houston does not lend itself to being an inhabitable cohesive neighbourhood. Studies show that decreasing the number of parking spots is a crucial step towards walkability and reprogramming parking lots in Houston would increase its livability. We created a tool to give users the ability to choose how to redesign downtown Houston based on a number of inputs. Based on those inputs, the user is able to asses their options based on certain metrics.
